Shingle Roofing
Proven Performance. Built for Florida's Climate.
Asphalt shingles that handle the heat, the wind, and the rain — installed correctly so they actually last.
Proudly Serving Central Florida
Asphalt shingles are the most widely used roofing material in Florida for good reason.
When you choose the right product and install it to manufacturer specification, you get a durable, cost-effective roof that performs reliably for 25 to 30+ years. The problem is most homeowners have no way of knowing whether their shingles were installed correctly — until something goes wrong years later.
At Strux, we install GAF architectural shingles exclusively. As a GAF-certified contractor, every shingle roof we build comes with access to an enhanced warranty program and is installed to a standard that keeps that warranty valid for the life of the roof.
Shingle Options
The Right Shingle for Your Home, Your Budget, and Your Goals.
3-Tab Shingles
The most basic shingle option. 3-tab shingles are flat, uniform in appearance, and lightweight. They're the most affordable entry point for asphalt roofing and can work in lower-wind environments. However, they're thinner than architectural shingles, carry lower wind ratings, and have a significantly shorter lifespan. For most Florida homeowners, architectural shingles are the better long-term investment — and we'll always tell you why before recommending one over the other.
Typical lifespan: 15–20 years Wind resistance: Up to 60 mph
Architectural Shingles (Dimensional)
The standard we recommend for most Florida homes. Architectural shingles are thicker, heavier, and built with a multi-layered construction that gives them a dimensional, textured appearance and significantly better performance than 3-tab. They carry higher wind ratings, last longer, and qualify for enhanced warranty coverage. This is what we install on every project unless a specialty product is specified.
Typical lifespan: 25–30+ years Wind resistance: Up to 130 mph (product dependent)
Designer & Luxury Shingles
For homeowners who want the performance of architectural shingles with a premium aesthetic. GAF's designer shingle lines replicate the look of slate, wood shake, or high-end tile at a fraction of the cost and weight. They're built on the same multi-layer construction as architectural shingles — with upgraded profiles, deeper shadow lines, and a more distinctive appearance that adds real curb appeal and resale value.
Typical lifespan: 30–50 years (product dependent) Wind resistance: Up to 150 mph (product dependent)
Impact-Resistant Shingles
Designed to withstand hail and wind-driven debris, impact-resistant shingles are built with a reinforced construction that qualifies for Class 4 impact ratings — the highest available. In Florida, where hurricane season brings both high winds and debris, impact-resistant shingles offer an extra layer of protection. Many insurance providers also offer premium discounts for Class 4 rated roofing products, which can offset a portion of the upgrade cost over time.
Typical lifespan: 25–30+ years Wind resistance: Up to 130 mph+; Class 4 impact rated
Not All Shingles Are Built the Same. We Only Install the Best.
GAF is North America's largest roofing manufacturer, and their architectural shingle lines are engineered specifically for the wind speeds, UV exposure, and humidity that Florida roofs face year-round. We don't install builder-grade products and call it a day — we spec the right shingle for your home and your climate.
As a GAF-certified contractor, we're able to offer warranty coverage that most roofers simply can't access — including our $20,000 workmanship guarantee backed by GAF directly. That certification isn't just a badge. It means every installation we do is held to a higher standard
A Shingle Roof Is Only as Good as What's Underneath It.
The shingle is the last thing that goes on — and it only performs as well as the preparation underneath it. Before a single shingle goes down, we:
-
Inspect and address the decking for soft spots, rot, or structural issues
-
Install the right underlayment for Florida's heat and humidity
-
Ensure proper attic ventilation to prevent heat buildup that accelerates shingle aging
-
Detail every flashing point — valleys, penetrations, walls, and edges — correctly
These are the steps that get skipped when a crew is moving too fast. They're also the steps that determine whether your roof lasts 15 years or 30. We don't skip them.
Fast. Clean. No Surprises.
Most shingle replacements are completed in one to two days. We protect your landscaping throughout the project, remove and dispose of all old roofing material, and walk through the completed work with you before we leave. You'll know exactly what was installed, how it was installed, and what it's backed by.

Shingle Roof FAQs
-
How long do shingle roofs last in Florida?
With proper installation and ventilation, GAF architectural shingles typically last 25 to 30+ years in Florida's climate. The key factors are product quality, correct underlayment, and how well the installation accounts for Florida's heat, wind, and moisture. Designer and luxury shingle lines can extend that range to 40–50 years depending on the product.
-
What's the difference between 3-tab and architectural shingles?
3-tab shingles are thinner, flat, and offer less wind resistance. Architectural shingles are thicker, more dimensionally textured, and engineered to handle higher wind speeds. They last significantly longer and carry better warranty coverage. For most Florida homes, architectural shingles are the right call — we'll explain the trade-offs clearly so you can make an informed decision.
-
What are impact-resistant shingles and do I need them?
Impact-resistant shingles are built with reinforced construction rated to withstand hail and wind-driven debris at Class 4 — the highest impact rating available. In Florida's storm environment they offer real added protection, and many insurance providers offer premium discounts for Class 4 rated products. Whether they make sense for your home depends on your location, your insurance policy, and your budget. We'll walk you through the math.
-
Why does Strux only use GAF shingles?
GAF is the largest roofing manufacturer in North America, and their products are specifically engineered for the conditions Florida roofs face. As a GAF-certified contractor, we can offer enhanced warranty coverage that most roofers can't — including a $20,000 workmanship guarantee backed by GAF directly.
-
Can you install shingles over my existing roof?
In some cases, code allows a second layer of shingles over an existing roof. However, we generally recommend a full tear-off. Layering over old material hides potential decking issues, adds weight, and reduces the lifespan of the new shingles. We'll always give you an honest recommendation based on your specific situation.
-
Will a new shingle roof lower my insurance premium?
In many cases, yes. A new roof installed to current Florida Building Code standards — especially with impact-resistant shingles — can qualify you for insurance discounts. We recommend checking with your insurance provider, and we're happy to provide whatever documentation they need.
Our Lifetime Workmanship Warranty isn’t marketing — it’s a promise. If we installed it wrong, we come back and fix it at no cost. Period.
